Message from the President
Welcome to the home page of the Singapore Students’ Association Japan (SSAJ for short). SSAJ exists to provide a space for Singaporean students to meet up and connect with each other, and to offer a support network for the community of Singaporean students here in Japan. In the unfamiliar and foreign environment of Japan, it is always comforting to know that there are other Singaporeans who understand what you are going through. From time to time, we all experience bouts of homesickness where we crave chicken rice and miss the not-so-melodious sound of Singlish. SSAJ hopes to create a welcoming environment and supportive community which all Singaporean students can think of as their home away from home.
If you are a Singaporean student in Japan, do register with us and come join us for our events! We hold events at least once every two months where you can chill with fellow Singaporeans and speak Singlish to your heart’s content. We also disseminate useful information on part-time work opportunities and job-hunting on a regular basis.
And if you happen to be a prospective student thinking of applying for university in Japan or coming on an exchange programme, we would like to guide you along your journey here! Feel free to ask us questions on anything, be it school culture, daily life or academic matters. We would answer you to the best of our abilities.
Lastly, the mission of this year’s EXCO is to raise the visibility of our association and strengthen the ties within our community of Singaporean students. If you have any feedback or ideas for initiatives and collaborations please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to hear what you think!
We look forward to seeing our community of Singaporean students grow and flourish and promise to do our best in the coming year. Thank you!
President of SSAJ, 2017/18
